“I had to realize that you can’t protect your children from every harm,” Tanja Szewczenko (46) begins one of several Instagram stories. In these she reports on an accident involving her three-year-old son Leo. A few days ago he suffered a serious head injury while playing in the garden, said the former “Everything that counts” actress.

Pictures she shared with a trigger warning due to the blood show the deep cut on Leo’s forehead. “I can’t take it back,” said Szewczenko, close to tears. She made “many accusations” about herself. The wound was then stitched in the emergency room. In the past few weeks, she and her son have visited the doctor “every two to three days” to have Leo examined.

The three-year-old did not suffer any brain damage. He was brave and wanted to “play again quickly” after the hospital. Leo had “a guardian angel”. Szewczenko, on the other hand, was worried for a long time and watched him all night. She emphasizes: “For me, this article is not about a headline or my own attention.” Instead, she shared the story publicly to draw attention to the importance of first aid courses, especially among parents. Because of this, the actress knew how to behave “in the first reaction”.

Tanja Szewczenko now lives in Dubai with her family. In 2023, the former figure skater emigrated with her husband Norman Jeschke (45) and their three children. Szewczenko and Jeschke have been a couple since 2008. In addition to Leo, they also have daughter Jona (13) and Leo’s twin brother Luis (3).
