Is “Tagesschau” spokesman Constantin Schreiber (43) a robot? At least satirist Jan Böhmermann put forward this bold thesis on Twitter on Sunday evening – and the very human news journalist immediately countered it quite calmly.

Immediately after the 8:00 p.m. news was broadcast, Böhmermann posted: “I’m 72% sure that Constantin Schreiber is a robot.”

Less than 15 minutes later, the “Tagesschau” spokesman had the answer ready with a smile and posted a picture on Twitter on which he wrote a note with the inscription “I’m real!” (in German: “I’m real!”) in his hand. He wrote “Greetings from Hamburg”.

But because that didn’t dispel Böhmermann’s doubts (“Isn’t that EXACTLY what a robot would do?”), Schreiber got help from his “Tagesschau” colleague Aline Abboud for verification. She finally posts a photo showing her with a colleague and a writer and notes with a blue tick and the words “He’s really real” (in German: “He’s really real”). She wrote “double check☑

Journalist Schreiber has been speaking the main edition of the 8 p.m. news since January 2021. In the first few weeks, viewers also compared Schreiber to Superman in terms of appearance. Schreiber is a Middle East expert and has reported from the region for the news channel ntv for many years. He received a Grimme Prize for his German-Arabic series “Marhaba – Arriving in Germany”. He has been working for ARD-aktuell in Hamburg since the beginning of 2017.
