For creative director Thomas Hayo (53), traveling alone is the best way to discover a foreign country and its people.
“I’m a big fan of traveling alone. When you’re traveling solo, you’re much more open and approach strangers much, much more. That way you put yourself in situations that you wouldn’t and won’t get into as a group invited to a local family party or something similar,” Hayo told the German Press Agency in Hamburg.
There are still many countries and regions on his wish list, as Thomas Hayo said, who became known as a juror on “Germany’s Next Top Model”. “For example, I would like to travel to Mongolia. Maybe even on a horse.” The Arctic and certain parts of Africa also appealed to the Saarland native.
“I’m always very open to new experiences, because I think you learn the most from life situations and people who grew up in the most opposite way to your own environment or culture.” This brings a change of perspective into your own everyday life. “In this way you can become aware that our life in Germany or in the USA is not normal and that what we often get upset about should perhaps not necessarily be worth getting upset about.”
