The news about US rapper Kanye West (45) has been rolling over the past few days. On Thursday (October 27), several US media outlets unanimously reported that West’s Donda Academy private school in Simi Valley, California, would be temporarily closed. Now it is said that just a few hours later, parents and students were informed about the “return of the Donda Academy”. This is reported by the US celebrity portal “TMZ”. The tabloid has an email that was apparently sent around midnight on Wednesday.
The e-mail calls on the addressees to celebrate the return of the school in a church service the following day. “Thanks to the help of our parents and community, we are back and in full force!” the letter reads. In addition, the electronic letter predicts: “The children of Donda will change the world.” The letter is signed “Parents of Donda”.
The parents were said to have been informed about the temporary closure of the school just four hours earlier. According to multiple reports, the school’s principal, Jason Angell, sent an email stating that Donda Academy “will be closed, at the discretion of our founder, effective immediately for the remainder of the 22-23 school year.” However, the gates should be open again in September next year. Kanye West is also said to have confirmed in an Instagram post that has since been deleted: “My school will be closed.”
West founded the Christian facility for preschoolers through twelfth grade just this year. She was named after Kanye West’s late mother, Donda West (1949-2007). A few weeks ago, a Jewish teacher resigned after West’s anti-Semitic tirades. The school has around 100 students, half of whom have received scholarships.
Kanye West has been attracting negative attention lately. He appeared at the Yeezy show at Paris Fashion Week in a T-shirt with the inscription “White Lives Matter”, which is popular with American racists. He also published anti-Semitic posts on social media. As a result, Instagram and Twitter restricted West’s respective accounts. Most recently, he lost almost all advertising deals. Among other things, the German sporting goods manufacturer Adidas announced the cooperation.
