Julia Roberts (56) was not only seen in a guest role in “Friends”, she was also with Matthew Perry (1969-2023) for a few weeks. In an interview with “Entertainment Tonight”, the actress remembers her time on set and the deceased.

When she thinks back to the cult sitcom, she has “only good thoughts and feelings.” Roberts first appeared in the double episode “The One After the Superbowl” in early 1996. She was received warmly by everyone, even though she was only there as “a kind of unique character” – “and it was a really fun time.”

Perry was part of the main cast of the series alongside Jennifer Aniston (54), Courteney Cox (59), Matt LeBlanc (56), David Schwimmer (57) and Lisa Kudrow (60). In his autobiography “Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing” he revealed in 2022 that he and Roberts had gotten closer before their appearance. After hours of telephone conversations, Roberts spontaneously appeared on his doorstep – and during their guest appearance the two were already a couple. But it was only a three-month romance.

“The sudden death of someone so young is heartbreaking,” Roberts now says of Perry. She believes that in such situations it can help everyone to “appreciate what we have and continue to move forward in a positive way as best we can.”

Perry was found lifeless in the hot tub of his Los Angeles home at the end of October and died at the age of 54. Many of his fans and colleagues said goodbye to him on social media. “Matty, I love you so much and I know that you are now completely at peace and no longer in pain. I talk to you every day. […] Rest, little brother,” Aniston wrote on Instagram.
