Snoop Dogg (51) has his life filmed. On Wednesday, Universal Pictures announced that it would be filming a biopic of the rapper’s story, with Dogg himself serving as producer.
The musician is in good hands, Universal has experience with life stories in hip-hop: The studio was also responsible for the films “Straight Outta Compton” about the rap group N.W.A. and “8 Mile” about Eminem (50).
The screenplay about Snoop Dogg’s life is to be written by Joe Robert Cole (42), known for his work on the ‘Black Panther’ films and ‘American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson’. Allen Hughes (50) from the Hughes brothers, who drew attention to themselves with “Menace II Society” or the comic adaptation “From Hell”, will direct.
The film will also be the first that Snoop Dogg is releasing with his Death Row Pictures company. In a statement, according to The Hollywood Reporter, the Doggfather said it was “the perfect marriage” with everyone involved: “I’ve waited a long time to put this project together because I found the right director, the perfect writer and the best film company for the wanted to choose collaboration.”
