Canadian newcomer Tate McRae (20), who celebrated a worldwide hit with “Greedy” in September, is ambivalent about her success on social media platforms. “It is easier to build a large fan base on social media because you can go viral very quickly on Tiktok,” she told the German Press Agency. “But that also makes it harder to be taken seriously as a real artist. Because there’s so much music being released every day.”

The daughter of a German dance teacher wants to continue connecting with her fans on social media. “But I focus on my art and my brand because that’s what it’s all about in the end.”

The 20-year-old is releasing her second album “Think Later” this Friday and is going on a world tour in the spring, which will also take her to Germany and Austria in April and May.
