The actress Charlize Theron (47, “Monster”) says she sometimes has to justify her work to her daughters. “They think, ‘We know you work, but we don’t know 100 percent what you do,'” the South African-born Oscar winner said of the seven- and 10-year-old girls.

Her younger daughter assumes she won’t be able to keep a job, Theron explained. The older one rebukes her when she sees her advertising posters. “We’re walking through an airport and she’s like, ‘Oh my god, you’re up a fucking wall with no tops, mom. It’s so embarrassing!” She then replied to her daughter in mock indignation: “We’ll use this to pay for your college!” Theron explained. “But deep down, like any mother, I just want to fucking impress those two.”
