Yesterday Monday brought with it the nominations for the 2023 Golden Globe Awards. In addition to the individual film and series titles, the list of nominees is also a good indicator of the competition between US streaming services. And here a clear picture emerges: in the series section of the Golden Globes, which is so important for streamers, the streaming giant Netflix and the US premium cable channel HBO and its streaming service HBO Max are tied. Both have a total of 14 nominations in the TV sector – making them the kings of streaming services.

The anthology series The White Lotus received four HBO and HBO Max nominations, including Best Miniseries. In this category, “The White Lotus” faces competition from the Netflix series “Dahmer – Monster: The Story of Jeffrey Dahmer”, which has also been nominated four times.

The royal series “The Crown” also received four nominations, including in the supreme discipline “Best Drama Series”. This category also includes the HBO/HBO Max series House of the Dragon, the first spin-off of Game of Thrones, and the Netflix show Ozark, which ended in 2022 after four successful seasons.

However, the Netflix streaming service not only produces series, but also increasingly prestigious films that would undoubtedly have ended up in cinemas before today’s streaming times. On the film front, Netflix also picked up an additional 10 Golden Globe nominations, including two for the sequel Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, bringing the total to 24.
