The eldest daughter of Thailand’s King Maha Vajiralongkorn, Princess Bajrakitiyabha, is hospitalized, according to the royal palace. The 44-year-old lost consciousness while training with her dogs in the northeastern city of Nakhon Ratchasima on Wednesday, a statement said. The reason for this is heart problems.

She received first aid and was then flown by helicopter to a hospital in the capital, Bangkok. King Maha Vajiralongkorn and Queen Suthida visited her there on Friday, the Bangkok Post reported. Further details were not initially known.

Princess Bajrakitiyabha Mahidol, commonly known as Princess Bha, is the only child of the Thai king’s first marriage. The 44-year-old is not entitled to the throne according to the rules of the Thai royal family, which favor male descendants. However, as one of the royals who are venerated like saints in Thailand, the princess plays an important ceremonial role.

She also embarked on a career as a diplomat after completing her law degree in the United States. She worked at several UN institutions and was Thai Ambassador to Austria from 2012 to 2014. Since February 2021, the princess has had a senior post in the king’s bodyguard.
