Actor Matthias Brandt (“King of Stonks”) does not celebrate New Year’s Eve. “The last time was probably when I was 18 years old,” said the 61-year-old of the German Press Agency. The reason he gave was that “it wasn’t the case with accounting”. “I always find people extremely tense and weirdly excited about New Year’s Eve,” Brandt said. He doesn’t like that. That’s why he usually goes to bed early on New Year’s Eve. “Usually even earlier than the rest of the year.”

Brandt is one of the best-known actors in the country. Together with his colleague Anke Engelke (57), he has now made a 30-minute film that takes place on New Year’s Eve. Due to unfortunate circumstances, the two main characters are locked in the anteroom of a small bank branch. Engelke and Brandt were together for the first time in front of the camera for the film “Kurzschluss”, which will be shown on ARD for the first time on December 30th.
