The driver had initiated a rapid braking, when he noticed the cow on the tracks. He could not avoid the collision, according to the Federal police, however. As the cow was on the tracks of the railway line Hamburg-Neumünster, had yet to be determined, said a police spokesman. The railway line was closed for the salvage operation, according to the Federal police a total of nine trains were affected.
