The Sonos Move is a speaker that is described by the manufacturer as portable: That’s right: He has at the back a recess, so that you can lift it comfortably high – even without that you would have to plug and unplug a cable. For the power supply (via the USB-C cable) sit the speaker on a Ring, which presses the contacts automatically to the right place, without the need to snap for it.
However, for the vest pocket, the Move is definitely too big, and even in a backpack, make both the weight (three kilos), as well as the dimensions (24 inches high, 16 inches wide and 12.6 inches deep) quite noticeable. He is more suitable to the sound of a fest in your own garden, and it is suitable for larger excursions less – if you can’t do without those anyway on a mobile sound system.
Good sound and sufficiently loud
Apart from that, the speaker is not only weather and fall, but also with an enduring battery, which holds according to the manufacturer, to the ten hours. The Box provides a maximum, is Sonos the middle of nowhere. But it is definitely significantly louder than a typical smart speaker or even a Bluetooth-Box – and certainly too loud for the nursery. Also, the quality of the sound is just right: full of power across the frequency spectrum, from low to high tones.
Analog connections, there is no: The speaker is played either via Wi-Fi (via the Sonos App or Airplay-2 Protocol from Apple) or via Bluetooth. Also Spotify Connect works. The start-up is straightforward: You download the Sonos App from the Store, establish a user account, selects displays the Wi-Fi network of the speaker (the only however, an alpha-numeric string that is the Name) and follow the instructions in the App.
Without Wi-Fi goes nothing
A small disadvantage: No Wi-Fi, the speakers do not operate, even if you intend to use it only via Bluetooth. The speaker also acts as a smart Speaker, and allows you to interact with Google Assistant, or Alexa from Google – the selection is done in the App.
conclusion: The Sonos Move sounds excellent and offers with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth versatile possibilities of use. A limitation is that it only gives Mono sound. If you want to hear stereo sound, you can use two speakers of the same model, which can be combined via the App a Couple. Also the price is 429 CHF for a speaker with relatively high doubles then.
With the Sonos One, there is a much cheaper model, but with a power cable. Thanks to the cooperation with Ikea, there are Sonos speakers under the name of Symfonisk again significantly cheaper. Nevertheless, if you can live with the limited mobility and the rather boring, a little techno Design, is this sound block is not false.
