curious Detail to the Grand Prix of Hungary at Hungaroring: pole setter and winner Lewis Hamilton, it is not clear from the reconstruction of the Boxenfunks during the race, realized until the twelfth round that perhaps his closest rival Pat the world title in 2020, Max verse, yet was not eliminated!
Indeed, had informed him his race engineer Peter Bonnington several times routinely over the tab on the Red Bull pilots. But it was only when he made that call to the beginning of the twelfth round, literally “Gap to Verstappen of 9.6”, it fell to Hamilton to him completely surprised to the word: “I thought you said Verstappen is eliminated?”
Apparently, the six-time world champion was so engrossed in his own race that he had not registered the radio messages that had reached him by then, even. Bonnington explained to him patiently: “you have managed to repair the car in the starting line-up.” What, incidentally, was a record-breaking performance of the Red Bull mechanics.
To the beginning of his fifth lap Hamilton for the first time to register, that Verstappen is, despite his crash in the Out-Lap in race. “Verstappen was in the Box. He changed to dry tires,” as radioed to the Bonnington. Then, the distance to the low countries was given to him a couple of times.
Until his pit stop at the end of the third round, you had informed Hamilton about his lead over Lance Stroll, the Second in the Grand Prix of Hungary. Shortly before the pit-stop Hamilton proposed but to stay a lap of the outside – until he changed at the last minute his mind: “Box this Lap!”
anyway: even Though he has fall after a three-race 30-point lead on a verse, he assumes that the formula 1 world championship in 2020 will be a Solo for Two. He says: “We bust our ass, and we will continue to do so. I don’t know, of course, as the next race is run. I would like to see a harder battle with the other Teams? Absolutely!”
“The Red Bulls have done a great job. I am sure that you will make in the course of the season. I love to fight against other Teams. I had a Red Bull this weekend, more on the screen. I’m not quite sure what was going on in Qualifying. But in the race they were clearly stronger.”
Hamilton is clear, however, that Mercedes is hardly to crack when everything runs smoothly: “This weekend we made no mistakes. It is sure to be difficult against us, if we deliver in all areas, 100 percent. But I assume that we still have challenges.”
