The UEFA Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Committee has sanctioned the former Paris Saint-Germain sports director Leonardo Nascimento de Araújo with one match for the incidents that occurred during the second leg of the Champions League round of 16 against Real Madrid, while the president of the French club, Nasser Al Khelaifi, has not received any penalty for the events.
Thus, the Brazilian leader, who was dismissed by the French entity at the end of last month, was sanctioned for violating “the disciplinary rules and sports conduct” by going down to the referees’ locker room, commanded by the Dutchman Danny Makkelie, after the match held on March 9 at the Santiago Bernabéu (3-1) to question his decisions.
Next to him was Al Khelaifi, who received no penalty.
According to the arbitration report of that match, both showed “aggressive behavior and tried to enter the referees’ locker room”, and the president of the Parisian club “hit the flag of one of the attendees, breaking it”.
