It is unlikely that Simmons will be available to play for the Nets when they visit Philadelphia on March 10.
Although the Nets hope Kevin Durant will be back from his left knee injury later in the week, Simmons still seems a ways away after not playing this season.
As he tried to increase the workload, his back started to bother him. On Monday, Nash stated that Simmons would not be practicing this week.
Simmons was acquired in the trade deadline deal that sent James Harden the 76ers. He stated during his introductory press conference that he hoped to have Philadelphia ready for him. The No. The No. 1 draft pick of 2016 sat out the entire season, while he sought to trade. He cited mental health issues.
However, Nash stated that Simmons is primarily doing physical therapy and light photography and is still not cleared to perform any high-intensity work.
Nash was asked if this would allow Simmons to play prior to the middle of March.
Durant missed his 20th consecutive game since Jan. 15, when he sustained an injury. Nash indicated that he would not play Tuesday in Toronto for the second game in the home-and–home series, but may return against Miami on Thursday.
