A year after his retirement from professional football the former Bayern works Star Arjen Robben to a Comeback for his former club FC Groningen. The 36-year-old Dutch train in order to be at the Start of the new season, part of the team, informed the first division team on Saturday.
“The club can currently need all the help to get through the corona of a crisis,” said Robben on the website of the Association. In the past few weeks he had had many conversations with club members and Fans listened. “Arjen, listen to Your heart!”, would have told him. “As it began to tingle, and now this is my Mission. I’m working on a Comeback as a footballer.”
The so-called “Pride of the North” had started to seal once in the youth Academy of his football career. Whether the return will succeed, he did not know yet. “What I do know, however, is that it should not fail because of my commitment and my Motivation. It is my dream to play again in the Jersey of FC Groningen.” Details will be announced on Sunday at a press conference.
Robben has played for Eindhoven, Chelsea, Real and Bayern
It was “delighted and flattered” that the seals “love the club”, a return to the professional plan to the football, shared with Groningen. In the aborted season, the club had occupied ninth place in the Dutch Eredivisie.
Robben had played until last summer, ten years at FC Bayern, and then his professional career on. At 18, he was started in Groningen, to a picture-book career – with stops at PSV Eindhoven, Chelsea, Real Madrid and FC Bayern, where he won the 2013 Champions League. In the final against Borussia Dortmund, he scored the decisive 2:1.
