The German Football Association (DFB) reacted distantly to the Instagram post by women’s national coach Martina Voss-Tecklenburg.
When asked whether the association was currently in discussions with the 55-year-old, a spokeswoman replied to a dpa query: “Currently, communication is primarily taking place through Martina Voss-Tecklenburg’s legal representation.” The national coach has now recovered and announced on Tuesday via social networks that she was internally coming to terms with the early end of the World Cup.
The DFB wrote: “We would like to make it clear that Martina Voss-Tecklenburg has informed us that she will only be available for a personal interview after her vacation after a period of reflection. We have of course respected this and planned it accordingly. The DFB is therefore aiming to do so as soon as possible At the end of Martina Voss-Tecklenburg’s vacation we will not and will not pre-empt this.” The Nations League and the associated Olympic qualification, which is to be achieved under interim coach Horst Hrubesch, are currently the “top priority”.
The DFB had previously confirmed on Sunday that the coach, who was taking a break, was no longer on sick leave and was on vacation. “I can happily announce that, thanks to the support of very experienced and qualified doctors and the support of my family and circle of friends, I am now almost healthy and fit for action again,” wrote Voss-Tecklenburg. RTL initially reported on her Instagram statement: “Of course I’m very happy about that, because the last few months haven’t been easy for me.”
