Olympic champion Christopher Grotheer has won the overall World Cup for skeleton pilots. Third place was enough for the Thuringian at the World Cup final in Sigulda, Latvia.
Grotheer was defeated by Brit Matt Weston, his biggest competitor for the crystal ball, and Marcus Wyatt. Weston won with two best times, 0.36 seconds ahead of his compatriot. Grotheer was 0.63 seconds behind.
Things didn’t go well for the other two German skeletons. Felix Kreisinger did not get past fifth place. Olympic silver medalist Axel Jungk again had problems with the track and had to settle for tenth place. He also lost his third place in the overall World Cup to Wyatt.
