The Belgian Dimitri van den Bergh, Northern Ireland’s newcomer Josh Rock and the Welsh veteran Jonny Clayton have moved into the round of 16 at the Darts World Cup in London.
“The Dreammaker”, as the 28-year-old van den Bergh is called, clearly defeated the Pole Krzysztof Ratajski 4-1 and is thus in the round of 16. There he will face either his compatriot Kim Huybrechts or the Scottish world champion to do with Peter Wright. Van den Bergh has already reached the quarter-finals at the 2018 and 2020 World Cup, but has fallen back a bit in the rankings.
The 21-year-old Rock is the newcomer of the year and defeated Nathan Aspinall (England), who has been established for years, 4:3 in a high-class and gripping match. Clayton is waiting in the next round, who hardly had any problems in the 4-1 win over Northern Ireland’s Brendan Dolan. Rock has already moved up 11 places to 36th in the rankings.
