Tennis Olympic champion Alexander Zverev won almost two weeks after his comeback in a show tournament against Novak Djokovic. The 25-year-old defeated the former world number one from Serbia in the World Tennis League 6: 3, 6: 4.

Zverev thus led his team to victory after Jelena Rybakina from Kazakhstan had previously won 0: 6, 6: 1, 10: 6 against Aryna Sabalenka from Belarus. Zverev had recently returned to the tennis stage at a show event in Saudi Arabia after the serious foot injury he sustained at the French Open.

At the team tournament in the United Arab Emirates, Zverev plays in a team with the Austrian Dominic Thiem and Rybakina, among others. Zverev is scheduled to meet the Canadian duo Eugenie Bouchard and Felix Auger-Aliassime in a mixed match alongside Rybakina on Thursday. A day later he has a singles match against Australian Nick Kyrgios. The top two out of four teams make it to the final on Christmas Eve.
