The German ski jumpers want to take the tailwind after team bronze at the Ski Flying World Championships on Kulm with them into the next competitions.
“It was very important to go out here with two medals. That gives us real strength for the next time,” said national coach Stefan Horngacher to the German Press Agency. “I think we’ll go out with a good feeling now and go back into the World Cup with a little more ease.”
One day after individual silver for Andreas Wellinger, bronze on Sunday in Bad Mitterndorf, Austria was the second medal for the German team. Pius Paschke and Karl Geiger in particular improved significantly compared to the individual competition. “Today they showed that they are not as far away as it sometimes seems. They haven’t forgotten how to ski jump. This gives them motivation again,” said Horngacher.
The conciliatory conclusion made the violinist, who had recently been weak in form, positive: “I was once again able to glide weightlessly. That’s where you can recharge your batteries with feeling and emotions,” said the 30-year-old from Oberstdorf. “It was a really nice and important day. The day feels better than you might think. I would like to build on these points.” He and his teammates have the next chance to do so this weekend at the home World Cup in Willingen.
