Basketball pro Draymond Green from the NBA champion Golden State Warriors will stay away from his team until further notice and train individually.

The four-time NBA champion made his public statement after attacking teammate Jordan Poole at a training session earlier in the week. According to head coach Steve Kerr, it’s a joint decision.

Green specifically spoke of a mistake and apologized for his behavior. The 32-year-old forward is said to have personally apologized to Poole and the team on Thursday before leaving the training hall. After that, a video of the incident became public, which Green now referred to. It was “shameful” to see that.

It is currently unclear whether and when Green, who has played his entire NBA career with the Warriors, will join the team again. The Warriors have so far only announced that they will regulate the matter internally and will not comment on the sentence.

The regular NBA season starts on October 18 with the game of the defending champion from San Francisco against the Los Angeles Lakers with superstar LeBron James and the German national team captain Dennis Schröder.
