Rick Karsdorp has no future at AS Roma. The Dutchman fell out with head coach Jose Mourinho and did not show up for training on Sunday. He will leave the club in January.

Surprisingly, Mourinho did not nominate his protégé for the squad last week. Previously, he had pointedly counted the “behaviour of an unprofessional player” and announced that this player “must look for a new club”. It was already an open secret that Karsdorp was meant.

The final break between Karsdorp and Mourinho followed on Sunday. The Dutch right-back didn’t show up for Roma training – no excuses! – and it’s probably out for good. “It’s over between Karsdorp and AS Roma,” wrote transfer expert Fabrizio Romano. In January Karsdorp will almost certainly (have to) leave the club. According to various media reports, both Juventus Turin and Olympique Marseille should position themselves.
