Marco Rose made his debut as the new coach of cup winners RB Leipzig. The Saxons won 3-0 (2-0) against Rose’s former club Borussia Dortmund on Saturday.

Despite conceding a late goal in the 2-2 (1-0) win against VfB Stuttgart, record champions FC Bayern regained the lead in the table for at least 24 hours because of the better goal difference. SC Freiburg could pass again on Sunday. TSG 1899 Hoffenheim, who are also tied on points, are the new runners-up ahead of the Sport-Club with a 4-1 (0-0) win over FSV Mainz 05.

VfL Wolfsburg scored their first win of the season with a 1-0 (0-0) win at Eintracht Frankfurt, Bayer Leverkusen did not go beyond a 2-2 (0-0) win at Hertha BSC and is still stuck in the bottom third of the table. Promoted FC Schalke 04 achieved their first win of the season in the small Revierderby with a 3-1 (1-0) against VfL Bochum and jumped up to twelfth place. Bochum remains last without a point or a win.

Successful Rose debut in Leipzig

Willi Orban (6th) gave Rose’s new club the lead against the old one from a corner with a header at the penalty spot, Dominik Szoboszlai (45th) followed up with a wonderful long-range shot. Amadou Haidara (84th) made the decision. Rose was only introduced on Thursday as Domenico Tedesco’s successor.

Youngster Mathys Tel (36th) scored for Bayern, who started with a significantly different starting formation after winning the Champions League at Inter Milan. At 17 years and 136 days, the Frenchman is the youngest goalscorer in Munich’s long Bundesliga history.

The supposed equalizer by Serhou Guirassy was not given due to a previous foul (51st), before Chris Führich (57th) really scored the interim 1-1. Jamal Musiala (60th) quickly put Bayern back in the lead. But a penalty converted by Guirassy (90.2) caused late Stuttgart celebrations.

Kerem Demirbay (49th) scored in Berlin to make it 1-0 for Bayer. Just seven minutes later, Suat Serdar equalized before Marco Richter (74′) turned the game completely around. Patrik Schick (79th) saved Bayer the draw.

Hoffenheim wins confidently

In Hoffenheim, Vice World Champion Andrej Kramaric initially missed a penalty kick (44th). FSV central defender Alexander Hack saw the red card for the foul in the penalty area (41st). In the second half, Kramaric (53′) was then successful, Grischa Prömel (69′), Munas Dabbur (80′) and Pavel Kaderabek (90′ 2) provided the other TSG goals. Dominik Kohr scored for FSV (83rd).

For VfL Wolfsburg, who competed in Frankfurt without retired Max Kruse in the squad, Maxence Lacroix (60th) was successful. At Schalke, Dominick Drexler (38th) gave the hosts the lead. Philipp Hofmann (51′) equalized before Bochum’s Erhan Masovic (73′) brought Schalke back in front with an own goal. Sebastian Polter (90.6) made the decision.
