Leon Goretzka praised Julian Nagelsmann again after his departure from FC Bayern Munich. “Julian is an excellent coach and a great person. The news surprised us all, no question about it,” said the 28-year-old in an interview with “Sport Bild”.
The national soccer player does not yet know his new coach Thomas Tuchel: “But we all know and appreciate his successes, have great respect for his performance and experience.”
After the 2: 3 in the international match against Belgium, Goretzka is now turning his focus back to FC Bayern, after his injury he does not expect a failure. “I’ve twisted my ankle. It should be enough until Saturday,” said Goretzka after the game.
“We’re under pressure”
In the Bundesliga cracker against leaders Borussia Dortmund, the midfielder is self-confident despite the recent poor performance and the coaching quake. “We’re under pressure, no question. We brought ourselves into this situation. The good thing is that we as FC Bayern have been in exactly these situations in the past. That’s also the plan for Saturday,” said Goretzka. Munich are one point behind BVB.
In the back of his mind he also has Bayern’s championship series with ten titles in a row. “As a player, you don’t want to be part of the team that breaks this series,” said Goretzka, who finds games under pressure, like now against BVB, “great”: “Because of these situations, I switched to Bayern, that’s why I want to me to be at this club: to feel the pressure to fight your way out of this situation to win this game.” From his point of view, the question of favorites has also been clarified: “We’re always favorites. We play at home, there isn’t a team we don’t go into the game against as favourites.”
