At least two people were injured in a fire in a family home in Schleiden (Euskirchen district). After the roof fire, the house was almost completely burned out on Wednesday night, a police spokesman in Euskirchen said on Wednesday morning. Two firefighters reportedly suffered minor injuries. The fire brigade rescued a resident from the house in the Herhahn district. He came to a hospital. It was initially unclear whether and how badly he was injured.

After the fire brigade reported the fire as under control, fire nests flared up again. Firefighters were still working as of Wednesday morning. The cause of the fire was initially unclear. A gas supplier was also involved in the operation.
