The Alba Berlin basketball players won the German championship for the first time in the club’s history. In the fifth and decisive game of the final series, the team from the capital beat defending champion Rutronik Stars Keltern with 68:53 (27:26). A strong final quarter with 25:11 points paved the way for Alba to win the title.
Deeshyra Ashanti Thomas with 18 points and Marie Bertholdt with 15 points were the host team’s best scorers. Krystal Lynette Vaughn scored twelve points for Keltern.
The game took place on May Day in front of 2,400 spectators in the sold-out Sömmeringhalle in the Charlottenburg district. The men from Alba Berlin, who are once again contenders for the Bundesliga title this year, have already won eleven championship titles, and it is a first for the women. After winning titles in 2018, 2021 and 2023, Keltern was considered the favorite in the final series. Alba had previously won the finals one (in Berlin) and three (in Keltern).
