Germany’s best downhill skier Kira Weidle clearly missed a top place in her first World Cup race after the Alpine World Ski Championships.
The 27-year-old finished 14th in Crans Montana, 0.96 seconds behind. Emma Aicher scored points in 25th place, Katrin Hirtl-Stanggassinger finished 35th.
The Italian Sofia Goggia reported back impressively after the major event in France, which was disappointing for her. The best downhill skier of the past winters celebrated her fifth win of the season in the Swiss Alps and extended her lead in the discipline classification. Winning the small crystal ball can hardly be taken away from Goggia with two missing World Cup downhill runs.
Second on Sunday was Goggia’s compatriot Federica Brignone ahead of France’s Laura Gauche. The shot ride in Crans Montana was originally supposed to take place on Saturday, but was postponed due to the weather. The Super-G, which was actually planned for Sunday, was cancelled.
