The Government more to the left of the EU with the acquiescence of Brussels. The apparent paradox of the Executive in the making of Pedro Sanchez is due in part to the influx of Nadia Calviño (La Coruña, 1968), whose vice-president economic was advanced during the campaign by the socialist leader in a wink that did not go unnoticed in the capital community. The presence of Calviño is an antidote to the concern in Brussels, Berlin or Frankfurt. The up until now minister of Economy maintains a high reputation in all the community forums, worked for more than a decade as a senior official of the European Commission.

DIRECT The new Government of Pedro Sanchez
His rise through the ranks of community was initiated in 2006, of the hand of the then owner of Competition, Neelie Kroes. A graduate in Law and in Economic, Calviño arrived in record time to the director-general, the highest post in the administrative hierarchy in brussels. By his office spent matters as the reform of the financial sector, the Brexit, or the budget of the EU.
Calviño seemed destined to finish his career in Europe, where it opened the doors to any aspiration. But in 2018 hearkened to the siren song of politicians of Madrid and agreed to enter into the Government of Sanchez. The risky step to the policy surprise in a person accustomed until then to be handled with tremendous ease in the back room of the power but away from the spotlight. There he kept a low profile —and attempted an output to the IMF that ended in fiasco, though it has gained poise. And you still have the keys of all the springs of Brussels, where the institutions continue to see it as “one of ours”. His name rings periodically for the most senior members of the club: the most feasible would be the presidency of the Eurogroup, which is compatible with the vice president of the Government.
