With a 24-hour anarchic campaign, the entertainers Joko and Klaas not only messed up the television program on ProSieben. For more than an hour on Sunday afternoon, the jokers also hijacked the program of the sister station Sat.1.
Actually, Klaas Heufer-Umlauf (40) and Joko Winterscheidt (45) were only supposed to use the Berlin studio of the Sat.1 breakfast television for their action on ProSieben as soon as it was empty. At least that was how it was initially announced. But the duo burst in during the last minutes of the ongoing Sat.1 live broadcast. The Sat.1 cameras filmed the two as they prepared the studio kitchen for their own breakfast. Suddenly Klaas asked: “Can we just take over the Sat.1 camera?”
Second-hand goods bought by spectators for a lot of money
The moderators in the studio did not intervene. Joko and Klaas’s program could then be seen on both channels from different camera perspectives. Together with podcasters Jakob Lundt and Thomas Schmidt, the two spent an hour buying second-hand goods from viewers for a lot of money – from red boots and video games to children’s toys.
It initially remained unclear whether the capture of the second station had been agreed with the television company. After an hour the spook on Sat.1 ended. The station then showed a game show. On ProSieben, however, Joko and Klaas broadcast webcam images from the Namibia desert for around half an hour without comment, which showed oryx antelopes at a waterhole.
The two took over the ProSieben program for a one-time period of 24 hours. The campaign was supposed to end on Monday night. The two of them earned the entire program day this week on the show “Joko and Klaas against ProSieben”.
“Shiteeeee – I can say”
At midnight on Sunday, the two jokers greeted the TV audience from a rooftop in Berlin. “I can say whatever I want. Shit – I can say it. But I can also say: Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to 24 hours of “Joko and Klaas against ProSieben,” said Klaas.
The duo then carried fireworks into a basement on the site in the east of the city. Shortly afterwards, the two people who were outside set off the fireworks. It could be seen from camera angles in the basement and from outside a window that fireworks were going off. Smoke developed.
ProSieben warned possible imitators: “The fireworks in the basement were monitored by professionals. There was no damage to the building. The rule is very clear: Please do not imitate it at home,” said a ProSieben spokesman for the German Press Agency. In response to a dpa inquiry, the Berlin fire department said there had been “no operation” that was “related to the “act” described.”
A show was shown backwards
After a night program with repeats (one show was even shown backwards) and best-of programs, the entertainers started Sunday morning with a live-streamed jogging tour across Berlin. “I’m seriously interested in letting people deeper into my private life,” Joko gasped as a camera crew on reels filmed the two.
In the morning there was a clip show with excerpts from ProSieben talk shows from the 90s. The TV Pirates then temporarily took over command of Sat.1. The comedians later met with their colleague Lundt and the rapper Sido in the empty Berlin Olympic Stadium to play the card game Uno.

Sido (“I’m a winning guy. I play for money, even in the casino.”) clearly won. Following the special rules of the day, Klaas had to eat a playing card as punishment because he had the worst score. This was followed by a repetition of a review of the year from 1999. A show with the working title “A very good quiz with a high prize sum” was planned for the evening. Details about the program remained vague at first.
As expected, the campaign initially appealed primarily to the younger audience. In the target group of 14 to 49 year olds, which is important for advertising marketing, a fairly good 10.1 percent (260,000 people) tuned in from midnight onwards. In the overall audience, the ratings success was much more manageable at 5.4 percent (490,000 viewers). There were initially no figures available for the entire night.
