To go down a toboggan hill on your own, a minimum age of five to six years is recommended. Small children who have reached their first year of life should only be dragged through the snow – ideally on a sled that minimizes safety risks with an integrated backrest. Below we will introduce you to four different models. We will also tell you what you should pay attention to when buying.

This 90 centimeter long and 32 centimeter wide wooden sleigh with rounded, smooth-running steel runners (powder-coated) was made of beech wood. The model has a sturdy backrest that can be removed if necessary – if your child is old enough. In order to be able to pull the sleigh from BambiniWelt by Rafael K. behind you, it has a pull rope supplied. The weight is 3.8 kilograms.

While small children are being dragged across the snow, they hardly move at all – and therefore cool down more quickly. To protect them from the cold, you can choose a wooden sled that comes with a matching footmuff: such as this beech wood construction from the Erst-Holz brand. The special thing about the 90 centimeter long sleigh is that it can be folded up and therefore easily stored in the trunk.

The price is anything but cheap, but two children can sit on the wooden sledge made of beech wood. It is therefore particularly suitable for twins or siblings who have only a small age difference. The Skyline model not only has two backrests that are permanently mounted and can be removed, but also two seat belts and two seat cushions.

This 110 centimeter long wooden sleigh has an extended backrest for children, which is also a pusher. In other words, the model from Holzfee can be pulled or pushed. This function is definitely beneficial for adults with back problems. In addition, the sustainable sleigh made of certified beech (FSC 100%) is TÜV-tested and should therefore meet all safety standards.

As the name suggests, a wooden sleigh is made of natural materials – ideally a solid hardwood such as beech. As far as the load capacity is concerned, the maximum weight can vary depending on the manufacturer and should therefore always be kept in mind. Especially if you want to sit on the sleigh with your child. When transporting it by car, it is also important to know how big the model you choose is and whether you can fold it up while driving. Last but not least, the TÜV seal is also an important indication that a wooden sled meets safety standards.
