On September 21, the new, fourth season of the Netflix series “Sex Education” will be broadcast via the streaming giant. However, it will also be the last season, as series creator Laurie Nunn (37) announced on Instagram.

In a letter to fans, Nunn explained that while working on season four, the writers realized that this was the right time for the ending. “We wanted to make a show that would answer some questions we all had about love, sex, friendship and our bodies. Something that would have helped our inner teens feel a little less alone.” It’s amazing to see how the show has connected people around the world.

“It feels bittersweet to write this because we decided that season four will also be the finale.” It wasn’t an easy decision, but as the themes and stories of the new season began to emerge, it became clear that this was the right time to wrap up.

Meanwhile, Netflix has announced what the fourth season will be about. Otis (Asa Butterfield, 26) and Eric (Ncuti Gatwa, 30) face a new challenge after Moordale Secondary School closes – Cavendish Sixth Form College. Yoga, a community garden, sustainability ideas and actually nice students without competitive pressure are a culture shock for the Moordale students. Meanwhile, in the US, Maeve (Emma Mackey, 27) is living her dream at the renowned Wallace University.

The series, which featured Butterfield, Gatwa, Mackey, Aimee-Lou Wood (29) and Gillian Anderson (54), among others, released its first season in 2019. According to Netflix, the third season, which won an International Emmy Award in 2022, was able to captivate over 66 million viewers in the first 91 days.
