The British King Charles III. have to go to the hospital. He will be treated for an enlarged prostate next week, the PA news agency reported on Wednesday, citing Buckingham Palace.
A palace spokesman told Britain’s Daily Mail newspaper: “Like thousands of men every year, the king underwent treatment for an enlarged prostate.” However, Charles’ case was “benign”. However, the monarch’s schedule will be adjusted in the near future.
According to the Daily Mail, it is not usual to be informed about the royal’s exact condition. But it was important to the monarch to mention why he needed to be treated. In this way, he wants to encourage other men in the country to go for check-ups themselves in order to, in the best case scenario, prevent anything worse from happening. An enlarged prostate affects a large number of men, mostly men from middle age onwards. A symptom can be pain when urinating.
A short time before, the royal family had announced that Princess Kate had to undergo a planned abdominal operation. However, nothing is yet known about the circumstances of Kate’s illness. “The Princess of Wales is aware of the interest this statement will generate. She hopes the public will be understanding of her desire to maintain as much normality as possible for her children and her desire for their personal medical information remain private,” said Kensington Palace.
Princess Kate will not attend any public appointments until after Easter, which is why Prince William’s schedule should also be adjusted. He will be there for her and their three children as much as possible in the coming weeks.
