Priscilla Presley (78) did not marry again after her failed marriage to music icon Elvis Presley (1935-1977) – for a specific reason. As “People” reports from an event in Las Vegas, the actress said during a question and answer session that she no longer had the desire to get married after her six-year marriage to Elvis. “No one could hold a candle to him,” the 78-year-old is quoted as saying.
Priscilla Presley and the “King of Rock ‘n’ Roll” were married from 1967 to 1973. At the time of the wedding he was 32 and she was 22. In the end the marriage didn’t last. Among other things, “People” cites the divorce document, which states that “unfortunate circumstances and unfortunate differences have arisen between the two parties due to which they have lived separately since February 23, 1972 and intend to dissolve their marriage.”
There are rumors that Priscilla Presley vowed not to marry anyone else while Elvis was still alive. According to People, the actress said in Las Vegas: “I just don’t think he would have been able to handle it.” Elvis Presley died in 1977 at the age of 42. But even after his death, Priscilla Presley remained unmarried. The two had a daughter, Lisa Marie Presley (1968-2023), who died earlier this year as a result of weight-loss surgery.
As reported by the Daily Mail, among others, Priscilla Presley has also confirmed that she wants to be buried next to her late ex-husband on his Graceland estate. Despite the divorce, there has always been a deep connection between the former couple. The love story of the two is also told in the film biography “Priscilla” by Sofia Coppola (52), which will be shown in German cinemas on January 4, 2024. In collaboration with the music legend’s ex-wife, Coppola shows the female perspective of married life together.
