Prince William (41) and Princess Kate (41) surprisingly appeared as guests of honor at a tea party. As the “Daily Mail” reports, the couple heir to the throne celebrated the 75th anniversary of the British health system NHS. According to the report, William and Kate came to the tea party extra early to help set the tables and finish the cake and cupcakes. The Princess of Wales is said to have done a lot more skillfully than her husband. Kate is said to have laughed at the sight of William’s baking skills.
The event was organized at St. Thomas’ Hospital in London by a charity that supports the health system. William and Kate are the patrons of NHS Charities Together. “The Great British Bake Off” star Mel Giedroyc (55) also acted as host. The actress and presenter also helped the royals prepare the cakes.
Kate wore a blue and white polka dot dress by Alessandra Rich, valued at £1,000, to the tea party for NHS workers, according to the report. After the invitees arrived in the hospital’s garden, the royals are said to have come as surprise guests with a huge birthday cake, the “Daily Mail” continues to report. Afterwards, William and Kate sat down with the participants of the celebration to exchange ideas with them.
William and Kate also showed impressions of the party on Instagram. They wrote: “Happy 75th Birthday NHS!” It continued: “It was our pleasure to attend a very special @nhscharitiestogether tea party to celebrate just a few of the many incredible people who make the NHS what it is!”
Kate had previously paid a visit to the Wimbledon tennis tournament. She had chosen an elegant combination of a mint green blazer from Balmain with white lapels and large white buttons and a white midi-length pleated skirt. White pumps, pearl earrings and loose hair completed the look.
