Pit lane reporter Kai Ebel wants to “come up with something fashionable” for his return to Formula 1 with RTL. The 59-year-old is part of the private broadcaster’s team, which will report on site from a total of seven races this year. After a one-year break, RTL bought sublicenses from Sky, and the pay channel will broadcast all 24 Grand Prix.
For Ebel, the Bahrain Grand Prix, which will take place on Saturday (4 p.m. CET) due to the upcoming Islamic fasting month of Ramadan, will also be a comeback. The Rhinelander also became known and legendary as a reporter in Formula 1 thanks to his striking wardrobe.
“I try to go with fashion a bit stylishly,” Ebel told dpa in the paddock in the Sakhir desert. “I won’t try at all costs to outdo myself like Lewis Hamilton,” he announced and said: “It doesn’t always have to be colorful, it has to be fashionable.”
