For the logistics industry, there will also be a state of emergency before Christmas 2022. Since there can definitely be delays in the shipping of parcels and parcels due to extremely high demand, consumers should order gifts or have them sent out early enough. Basically, the following applies: Ordered products must be available and possible delays due to bad weather conditions or other factors that cannot be influenced are not taken into account. Special shipping methods such as express deliveries are usually more expensive than standard shipping. Here is an overview of some of the best-known retailers and parcel services.

On its website, Amazon lists the expected delivery date of a product as “delivery before Christmas”. Customers are advised “to pay attention to the confirmation of the delivery date when ordering,” explains a spokesman for the shipping giant when asked by the news agency spot on news. “Our on-site teams then ensure that the packages are under the Christmas tree on time.”

A new smartphone directly from Apple, on the other hand, is only under the Christmas tree in good time if it is not an iPhone 14 Pro Max or iPhone 14 Pro. Orders for these two models should have been placed by November 15, as the tech giant notes on an overview page. Many other models and other hardware can therefore still be ordered until December 21st.

“Get your gifts on their way early,” advises DHL on an overview page for Christmas. The latest possible submission dates are also listed there. For shipments within Germany, customers should therefore send letters and postcards by December 22nd, parcels and small packages by December 20th. In other European countries, Christmas mail should be delivered earlier. The dates differ here. For shipments to Italy and France, DHL lists around December 14th.

On request, GLS Germany also recommends getting parcels on their way as early as possible. If the following deadlines for shipments are taken into account, which are also listed again on the homepage, an initial delivery attempt is guaranteed by December 24th. Parcels for deliveries within Germany should be handed in to a GLS parcel shop by 12 noon on December 21st. For shipments to neighboring EU countries, GLS Germany lists December 20 at 12:00 p.m. and for all other EU countries December 19 at 12:00 p.m.

Within Germany, Hermes guarantees a first delivery attempt for parcels and parcels by Christmas Eve if they are handed in to one of the parcel shops by 12:00 p.m. on December 21st. December 21 is also the last possible date for picking up parcels at home. Shipments abroad must be handed in earlier. For example, December 14 is listed for Portugal and December 20 for Austria. Hermes also offers an overview page.

In 2022, “MediaMarkt and Saturn will again promise to deliver at Christmas,” explains a company spokeswoman when asked. In order for ordered gifts to be delivered on time, please adhere to the following order deadlines: December 21 by 12:00 p.m. for parcel goods (DHL, letters, UPS), December 20 by 12:00 p.m. for large devices without an additional service booked, midnight December 18 for bulky items and midnight December 15 for serviced large equipment such as assembly, side-by-side refrigerators and island delivery. The deadlines therefore do not apply to orders via the Marketplace or to orders in advance or with financing. Products can also be ordered for personal pickup in one of the local markets free of charge. If the goods are already in stock there, they can be ordered via the “Click

Depending on the item and shipping method, the order deadlines also differ in the Otto online shop. For “normal” items, an order until December 21 at 11:30 p.m. is enough, Otto said when asked. Corresponding goods with the note “24-hour delivery” can still be ordered until December 23 at 1 p.m. Customers should therefore order items with so-called “two-man handling”, including refrigerators, furniture or large TV sets, by 21 December at 11:30 p.m. With 24-hour delivery, order here by 1 p.m. on December 22nd.

“Order now – and you will receive your delivery by Christmas Eve,” explains Tchibo on its website. Partner campaigns, foreign and forwarding deliveries are excluded. Customers should please note “the delivery time window on the product”, it says. It is often also possible to reserve items in a branch or to order them online and then pick them up in the branch.

To ensure that the gifts are under the Christmas tree in time, customers can “order from Zalando via standard delivery until Sunday, December 18, at 11:00 p.m.,” the fashion giant said on request. “Express mail can deliver all orders placed by 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 22nd in time for Christmas.” However, if the weather conditions, including heavy snowfall, for example, affect delivery times, customers will be informed.
