During the high phase of the corona pandemic, there was actually only one talk guest: SPD health politician Karl Lauterbach (59). In 2021 he made an incredible 41 appearances in talk show formats on TV, in 2020 he shared first place with Peter Altmaier (64). This year, however, he had to give up the top position to his CDU colleague Norbert Röttgen (57). After all, he presented his ideas and proposed solutions 21 times in the past year on “Maischberger”, “Maybrit Illner”, “Anne Will”, “hart aber fair” and “Markus Lanz”. No one was in front of the cameras more often as a political talk guest. This was the result of an evaluation by the industry portal “Meedia”.
In second place in 2022 is the journalist and deputy “Welt” editor-in-chief Robin Alexander (47) with 19 visits, followed by SPD leader Lars Klingbeil (44) with 18 appearances. A certain Karl Lauterbach comes in sixth with at least 15 talk show visits. Of course, the change at the top has to do with the change in focus away from the corona pandemic and towards the war in Ukraine. This was also shown by the “Meedia” evaluation:
The Ukraine war was the dominant theme of the shows 46 times, and the associated gas/oil/energy crisis 19 times. Corona was only discussed 11 times. However, only talk shows that have a fixed topic of conversation were counted here. “Maischberger” and “Markus Lanz” were not included in the last-named statistics, since as a rule several subject blocks are processed here.
