On “The Masked Singer” (ProSieben) Anna Loos (52) was revealed as a seahorse at the weekend, Jan Josef Liefers (58) as a kangaroo met this fate in the first edition of this year’s edition of the show. The two artists, born in Brandenburg an der Havel (Loos) and Dresden (liefers), have been lovers in real life for more than 20 years. Her daughters Lilly and Lola Liefers were born in 2002 and 2008 – both have been in front of the camera themselves since 2012 and 2015. Between the births of their children, Loos and Liefers married in 2004.
The Berlin-based Liefers and Loos could imagine good chances in the music show, because both are actors and musicians. While acting is clearly his priority, Loos first discovered her love for music.
Jan Josef Liefers has been part of what is by far the most popular “Tatort” team since 2002. On Sunday evenings he regularly slips into the role of the arrogant but brilliant forensic pathologist Prof. Dr. dr Karl Friedrich Boerne. Together with the north German chief inspector Frank Thiel – played by Axel Prahl (63) – and their team, he solves the murder cases in and around Münster. He received more than 20 awards and film and television prizes, including two Grimme Prizes, for his investigative role or productions such as “Rossini – or the murderous question of who slept with whom” (1997), “The Miracle of Lengede” (2003 ) and “The Tower” (2012). Liefers can also call his own completely different trophies, such as the Cross of Merit on Ribbon of the Federal Republic of Germany for social commitment (2011) or Hat Wearer of the Year 2016, Tie Man of the Year 2017 and Golden Slytherin.
In addition to acting, he has also built a career as a musician. Liefers has been touring regularly with his band Radio Doria since 2006. As a feature artist he was with “Endloser Sommer” on the album “So ist das Spiel” (2010) by Stefan Waggershausen (74). Two years later he accompanied the band Puhdys on their 40th anniversary tour. In 2015 he competed with Radio Doria for the federal state of Saxony in Stefan Raab’s (56) Bundesvision Song Contest – with their title “Sehnsucht Nr. 7” they finished fourth.
Anna Loos’ passion for music awoke in her early teens. After fleeing the GDR at the age of 17, she received her first singing training – via what was then Czechoslovakia, Hungary and Austria – and studied at the Stage School of Music, Dance and Drama in Hamburg. From the early 1990s she came to acting through music. From 1997 to 2000 she was an integral part of the Cologne “Tatort” team, which was also very popular. In the Ballauf-und-Schenk thrillers she played the secretary Lissy Pütz. Other TV highlights of her career are the series “Weissensee” (2010-2018), the title role in the crime series “Helen Dorn” (since 2014) or the mini-series “Tannbach” (2018). She, too, was able to add a few specimens to the family’s internal awards showcase over the course of her acting career. Among other things, Anna Loos was awarded the Order of Merit of the State of Berlin in 2018 for her commitment to civil society.
Even more than Liefers, Loos is still perceived as a musician. From 2005 she appeared as a guest singer with the rock band Band Silly, founded in East Berlin in 1978. From 2006 to 2016 she was a permanent member of the band. With the single “Alles Rot” the band took second place for Saxony-Anhalt in the 2010 Bundesvision Song Contest, and a year later they took third place in a duet with Bosse (43). At the beginning of 2019, Anna Loos released her first solo album – “tool box” reached number 16 in the German charts.
