Almost ten years after the apocalyptic action spectacle “Mad Max: Fury Road” (2015), a short video sets the mood for a new adventure from the “Mad Max” universe. The Warner Bros. studio released a two-minute trailer for “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga” online.
In it, Anya Taylor-Joy (27) plays the role of Furiosa as a tough fighter. Her opponent is the warlord Dementus (Chris Hemsworth), whose biker horde kidnapped the young Furiosa from her green home into the desert. As an adult warrior, she cuts off her long hair and takes revenge with a shaved head. The trailer focuses on action and speed – with fast-paced chases in a post-apocalyptic world. The film by Australian director George Miller is scheduled to hit theaters at the end of May.
Miller made three successful “Mad Max” films with Mel Gibson from 1979 to 1985. After a long break, the Australian returned in 2015 with “Mad Max: Fury Road”. In the film, which won six Oscars, Tom Hardy played the road warrior Max Rockatansky, who fights against a cruel warlord with the revenge-minded Furiosa (Charlize Theron). The fifth “Mad Max” film now tells the story of the origins of the combative Furiosa.
