The actor Ryan Gosling (42, “La La Land”) was skeptical whether he could credibly embody the role of Ken in the “Barbie” film adaptation. As reported by the industry news site “The Hollywood Reporter”, among others, the star said at this year’s CinemaCon on Tuesday: “I doubted my Ken energy.” The Barbie actress Margot Robbie (32) and the director of the film finally conjured his energy out of him.
Mask and costume might have been helpful too. Gosling recalled, according to the report, “All of a sudden, I was bleaching my hair, shaving my legs, wearing tailored neon outfits and roller-skating down Venice Beach. It hit me like a fever.” He would have asked himself, “Why is there self-tanner on my sheets? Why am I wearing jackets with no shirts underneath? What’s happening?”
The Barbie doll has previously appeared in animated films, but not in a film with real actors. The brightly colored plastic world should be on the screens of the cinemas in mid-July.
