Screen legend Harrison Ford (80) already said last year that the upcoming, fifth “Indiana Jones” film entitled “Indiana Jones and the Wheel of Destiny” will be his last appearance as a whip-wielding archaeologist. The 80-year-old Hollywood warhorse has now reiterated this to the magazine “Total Film”. “This is the last film in the series and will be the last time I play the character,” Ford said.

While the “Indiana Jones” film series with Ford in the leading role appears to be completed, there is the possibility of a series adaptation for the Disney streaming service. The industry magazine “Variety” reported back in November last year on a series project that is said to be in an early stage of development at the Maus group.

Indiana Jones star Ford is aware of the project, but told Total Film that he “won’t be involved in this if it goes ahead.” An Indiana Jones series could be about the adventures of a younger Indy. The main character could therefore be recast.

According to the current status, “Indiana Jones and the Wheel of Destiny” should start in German cinemas on June 29th. Before that, the adventure film by director James Mangold (“Walk the Line”, 59) celebrates its world premiere on May 18 at the Cannes Film Festival.
