Model Hailey Bieber, 26, has once again spoken out about the ongoing rumors that she has an enmity with actress and singer Selena Gomez, 30. This “twisted and perpetuated narrative” could become “really dangerous”.
Ever since Hailey Bieber started dating singer Justin Bieber (29), rumors have persisted that she and his ex-girlfriend Selena Gomez were having a bad relationship. Gomez’ fans in particular accuse the 26-year-old of literally stealing the man from the actress. In the “Bloomberg” show “The Circuit with Emily Chang”, Hailey Bieber now put the whole thing in a larger context: “I don’t think this is about me, Hailey Bieber, and Selena Gomez. It’s not about this about this playoff between two women and the split between two women.” Instead, she believes, “It’s about the hideous, disgusting hatred that can emanate from narratives that are totally made up and twisted and perpetuated. That can get really dangerous.”
Hailey Bieber said in an interview with Emily Chang (42) that it was “disappointing” that people think women are fighting over a man. “I hated it from the start. And I think it has a bit to do with just being misunderstood.” She “didn’t agree” with the kind of division the rumors caused. She doesn’t like the fact that the fans take sides, and that’s not what she’s about. She had to keep emphasizing that there was no problem between them.
Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber dated for eight years before finally splitting in March 2018. Then, in September of that year, he married Hailey Bieber.
The actress and model have been fighting back the rumors for quite some time. Earlier this month, Hailey Bieber told fans in an Instagram story not to leave “nasty comments” on Gomez’s social media pages. “If you leave mean or rude comments on someone’s posts on my behalf, just know that I don’t want it, and I will never encourage or condone hateful, mean, or nasty comments.” She added: “Please be nice or say nothing.”
Selena Gomez, in turn, also wrote in an Instagram story in March that Hailey Bieber had even received death threats. She added that she does not condone “hate or bullying” at all. “I’ve always championed kindness and I really want all of that to stop.”
At an event in October 2022, the two women appeared in harmony at a gala at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles. They willingly let themselves be photographed together, laughed and hugged each other.
