Singer Günther Sigl (76) is a married man. On September 1st of this year, his partner Doris and he said yes, as he confirmed to the “Bild” newspaper. The frontman of the German band Spider Murphy Gang married his long-time girlfriend in the Munich registry office at the English Garden. She appeared in pink, he in a classic suit.

There were a few special features in the registry office. First, Munich’s mayor Dieter Reiter (65, SPD) married the couple in person. The singer and he have been good friends for many years. Afterwards, Sigl played his wife a self-composed love song that he wrote for her. In a small circle of family and friends we then went to the Lustspielhaus Schwabing – Sigl’s band has performed there several times in the past. Live music and lots of dancing awaited guests.

It took almost 20 years for the couple to make their marriage legal. Wedding didn’t seem to be an issue for the two of them – until Doris asked her partner if he wanted to marry her. “Doris caught me at a special moment – and I said ‘yes’. She was very surprised by that,” says the “Scandal in the Restricted District” singer. His last name is already on his partner’s doorbell. However, the two want to continue to live separately in the future. “We have different rhythms of life. She gets up early. I, on the other hand, am not a morning person because I often work late into the night. Plus, that has kept our love fresh over the long period of time,” says Sigl.

After the wedding, Günther Sigl also has something special planned for his band: to play again in the Munich Olympic Hall for the 50th anniversary in 2027: “That’s our goal. I would then be on stage at 80. Not that many people can do it ” says the cult singer. Of course, his wife Doris wants to stay by his side until then and regularly accompany him to performances.
