Dutch singer Floor Jansen (41) has breast cancer. This was announced by the frontwoman of the Finnish symphonic metal band Nightwish on her Twitter account. Jansen writes to her fans there that her life goes in waves, with ups and downs. After many highs in recent years, she has now met a new wave: “Not a good one, I have breast cancer.”
However, her prognosis is “very good”, as the musician writes. “It appears to be a non-aggressive cancer that doesn’t seem to have spread. I’ll keep my breast,” Jansen said. If everything goes according to plan, she could start the planned European tour with her band Nightwish from November 20th. Jansen has been part of Nightwish since 2013. She was previously the lead singer of After Forever from 1997 to 2009. Together with her partner Hannes Van Dahl (32), drummer at Sabaton, Jansen has a daughter who was born in 2017.
Outside of the metal scene, Jansen also became known for her participation in the VOX show “Sing mein Song”. There she took part in the ninth season, which was broadcast in April and May, with colleagues such as Clueso (42) and Johannes Oerding (40).
