“Pirates of the Caribbean” star Johnny Depp (60) was last seen as an actor in the costume drama “Jeanne du Barry” (2023). Now the Hollywood star is showing the first photos from his directing project “Modi”, which he has just shot. Depp wrote on Thursday (local time) on the Instagram page of his production company IN.2 that he was happy to be able to present this “unique and captivating story” to the world. “Modi” is a testament to the “cooperative spirit of independent filmmakers.” He thanked the US actor Al Pacino (83) for bringing the project to him.
For the film about the Italian artist Amedeo Modigliani (1884 – 1920), Depp brought Riccardo Scamarcio, Bruno Gouery and Pacino, among others, in front of the camera. “Modi” revolves around two eventful days in the life of the painter, who lived in Paris during the First World War.
It is Depp’s second directing project after “The Brave” (1997). Filming for “Modi” began in Budapest in September. Nothing was initially known about the theatrical release.
