Cristiano Ronaldo (37) is not only a football megastar but also one of the most well-known personalities on the internet. No other individual has as many followers on Instagram as the 37-year-old. Due to a technical error, the numbers apparently fell briefly on October 31.

As the tech portal “The Verge” reports, around 3:15 p.m. German time it looked as if Cristiano Ronaldo’s Instagram account had lost around three million followers in the meantime. Around 493 million followers were previously listed there, and Instagram is currently showing at least 492 million followers again. In the meantime, there were also more than a million fewer on Instagram’s own account. However, some accounts are now available again and the numbers have gone up again.

According to the report, many users of the platform received the message on Monday that their account had been blocked. As a result, others could no longer log in. Among other things, the reports of problems with the platform increased significantly for a short time in the afternoon on the “alle disturbances.de” website.

Instagram tweeted: “We are aware that some of you are having trouble accessing your Instagram account. We are investigating and apologize for the inconvenience.”

When it comes to followers, Cristiano Ronaldo is the platform’s biggest star. No other celebrity has as many fans on Instagram as the footballer. At the beginning of the year he had cracked the 400 million mark. However, his colleague Lionel Messi (35), entrepreneur and reality TV star Kylie Jenner (25) and singer and actress Selena Gomez (30) each have more than 350 million followers.
