Heir to the throne Prince William (41) and his wife Princess Kate (41) were on royal duty 172 and 128 times respectively. The Prince and Princess of Wales appear to have focused on fewer projects this year to highlight issues close to their hearts.
Princess Anne has taken first place in the ranking of the hardest working royals for the past few years. This year, according to The Telegraph report, she took on between 12 and 14 appointments in an average week. Her busiest month was February, when she made 57 royal appearances, including trips to Australia and New Zealand.
Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams said, according to The Telegraph: “Anne is one of the best figureheads for the royal family because she is hard-working and committed.” She is popular “because people see the way she handles things and they like it.” Fitzwilliams continued: “The public sees Anne as someone who is grounded. I think the institution needs her very much.”
Charles’ brother Prince Andrew (63), who had to step down from his duties because of his connections to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein (1953-2019), and Charles’ younger son Prince Harry (39) are no longer officially working for the royal family. He and his wife Duchess Meghan (42) resigned as a working royal in 2020 and moved to the USA.
