Eye-catching winner of the British Fashion Awards: Musician Sam Smith (31) was honored with the “Cultural Innovator” award for viral fashion moments. The trophy was presented to him on Monday at London’s Royal Albert Hall. He walked the star-studded red carpet in a dramatic outfit: a tight black miniskirt and high-heeled platform boots from Vivienne Westwood made him one of the eye-catchers.
But it got even better, as “Mail Online” shows, among others: When accepting the award, which was presented by actress Lena Dunham (37), the Brit wore a black, voluminous taffeta dress with puffed shoulders. The striking dress featured a long ruffled train and cape-style sleeves. The artist combined two multi-layered necklaces.
Caroline Rush, chief executive of the British Fashion Council, said of the award: “Sam Smith is a true cultural innovator who has fearlessly pushed the boundaries of fashion and entertainment. Smith’s bold and groundbreaking style choices have dominated the industry in 2023, and we are incredibly grateful for the continued support of British designers.”
Sam Smith was one of many big stars who attended the annual fundraiser. Charlotte Tilbury (50) received a Special Recognition Award, and Giancarlo Giammetti (born 1942) accepted the Outstanding Achievement Award on behalf of Valentino Garavani from Gwyneth Paltrow (51).
